US move on Greenland would suit Russia and China

At a press conference summing up last year’s results, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov drew an equivalence between Crimea and Greenland. According to Lavrov, just as Greenland is important to the United States from a security perspective, Crimea is equally important to Russia for the same reasons. These remarks confirm that a US takeover of Greenland would align with the interests of Russia and even China.

Axar.az reports that political analyst Elkhan Shahinoglu made these remarks.

“First, this would strain US–Europe relations; second, even if NATO does not collapse, it would weaken; third, Russia would continue its occupation war against Ukraine, while China would loudly declare that Taiwan belongs to it. It is no coincidence that Lavrov voiced the thesis ‘might makes right’ at the press conference. This is precisely the policy pursued by Donald Trump,” the analyst said.

He recalled that one year had passed since Donald Trump began his presidency:

“In this one year, everything around has been shrouded in chaos, and Trump still has three more years ahead. For Trump, the concepts of friend, partner, and enemy are relative. In this one year, Trump has also managed to alienate America’s two neighbors—Canada and Mexico.”

According to the analyst, if Trump were to annex Greenland to the United States, there would be no force capable of resisting it.
