Iranian cargo ship in distress in Caspian Sea

An Iranian cargo vessel is in distress in the Caspian Sea.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian Telegram channel MNS, the dry cargo ship Caspian Shiva, which was heading to the port of Makhachkala, suffered a hull breach of unknown origin. The vessel later ran aground and began taking on water, with flooding reported in the engine room and cargo hold. Ten crew members are on board, and no injuries have been reported so far.

Rescue operations cannot begin at this time due to adverse weather conditions, with wave heights in the Caspian Sea reaching up to two meters. Several tugboats from Rosmorport have been placed on standby.
