Saudi, Israeli officials to discuss US strikes on Iran

Senior defense and intelligence officials from Saudi Arabia and Israel are in Washington, D.C., for talks with the Trump administration about Iran as the president considers possible military strikes.

Axar.az, citing Axios, reports that the discussions come amid a major U.S. military buildup in the Gulf intended to prepare for potential action against Tehran.

Israeli officials are in the U.S. to share intelligence on potential targets inside Iran, while Saudi leaders are pushing to de-escalate tensions and broker a diplomatic solution due to fears of a wider regional conflict. Trump has not made a final decision on military action, even after threatening Tehran with harsher strikes than previous campaigns.

During the visit, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman is scheduled to meet senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff. Saudi Arabia has reportedly been relaying messages between the U.S. and Iran in recent days to reduce the risk of war. Tehran has responded to U.S. threats with warnings of severe retaliation against U.S. forces and allies.
