Amazon announced it will cut another 16,000 jobs, just three months after eliminating 14,000 positions, as part of an ongoing efficiency drive.
Axar.az, citing Axios, reports that the latest layoffs target teams that had not yet completed reorganizations following the previous round of cuts in October.
The move reflects a broader corporate trend toward repeated, phased workforce reductions—sometimes described as “forever layoffs”—as companies seek to reduce costs, correct post-pandemic over-hiring, and capitalize on productivity gains from artificial intelligence.
Amazon said it will continue hiring in strategic areas despite the cuts, signaling a shift toward leaner operations rather than a full-scale retrenchment.
