Trump says ICE agents will assist TSA at airports

US President Trump said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will assist Transportation Security Administration personnel at airports this week as delays and security staffing shortages continue to worsen amid a stalemate in Congress over how to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

Axar.az informs that “On Monday, ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job,” he said in a Truth Social post on Sunday.

Democrats blocked funding for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to push for policy reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Republicans have so far rejected those proposals.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy blamed Democrats for the hours-long security line waits at airports, saying Trump has already made policy concessions.

The president's announcement comes as Duffy has said repeatedly that he expects the chaos and delays at U.S. airports to worsen amid the busy spring break travel season because of the ongoing shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.
