Rubio: U.S. Iran operation could end within weeks

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that Washington expects to complete its objectives in Iran “within the next couple weeks,” regardless of whether ground troops are deployed.

Axar.az reports, citing CBS, Rubio told reporters in Paris after G7 talks that “when we are done with them here in the next couple weeks, they will be weaker than they’ve been in recent history.”

He added that Iran had sent indirect messages to the United States but had not responded to a proposed peace plan.

“We’ve had an exchange of messages and indications from the Iranian system — whatever’s left of it — about a willingness to talk about certain things,” he said.

Rubio also indicated that Washington could redirect U.S. weapons from Ukraine to the Iran conflict if necessary.
