Rubio denies Zelensky’s claim US asked Ukraine to cede land

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s claim that the Trump administration is demanding Kyiv to cede its eastern Donbas region to Russia in exchange for American security guarantees as part of any ceasefire plan.

Axar.az reports that, speaking to reporters after the G7 meeting, Rubio rejected Zelensky’s recent comments, stating that the U.S. has made no such stipulation in its discussions with Ukraine.

“That’s a lie,” Rubio said. “And I saw him say that. And it’s unfortunate he would say that because he knows that’s not true and that’s not what he was told.”
