5.8-magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan, eight killed

A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Badakhshan province in Afghanistan yesterday at 20:42 local time, eight killed.

Axar.az informs, citing the country’s Ministry of Health, the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 186 kilometers (115 miles), killed eight members of a single family in Kabul province.

The tremors were felt in many parts of the country, including the capital, Kabul.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Sharafat Zaman reported that only the family’s 2-year-old child survived.
