Vance: Ukraine and Russia need to decide to move

U.S. Vice President James David Vance, speaking alongside Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest, called for an end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that Vance emphasized that while international leaders can facilitate peace, the ultimate responsibility rests with the parties involved.

“We’re talking about haggling over a few square kilometres of territory in one direction or another. Is that worth losing hundreds of thousands of additional Russian and Ukrainian young men? Is that worth months—or even years—of higher energy prices and economic devastation? We think the answer is clearly no. But it takes two to tango,” he said.

Vance added, “So while Prime Minister Orbán and President Trump will continue to work toward a peaceful settlement, fundamentally we can only open the door. The Russians and the Ukrainians have to walk through it.”
