Trump slams NATO over Iran after meeting Rutte

US President Donald Trump repeated his his criticism of NATO following a closed-door meeting with the alliance’s Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Wednesday.

Axar.az informs that ahead of the private meeting, Trump had suggested the U.S. may consider leaving the alliance after NATO member countries ignored his call to help as Iran effectively shut the the Strait of Hormuz.

“NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Meanwhile, Rutte has described his meeting with Trump as "very frank" and "very open", despite clear disagreements.
