Iran and US presidents may sign memorandum of understanding

New ideas have been proposed regarding the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, including the possibility of the two countries’ presidents signing the document.

Axar.az reports, citing ISNA, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made a statement.

“We are reviewing this idea, and in some respects, it may be a better option,” Baghaei said.

He added that the planned meeting in Switzerland remains scheduled and will serve as the beginning of further negotiations toward a final agreement. If the proposal for presidential signatures is approved, the signing would be conducted remotely, he noted.

Baghaei also said that the memorandum of understanding consists of about one and a half pages and 14 clauses, covering issues including the continuation of talks toward a final agreement, the end of the war on all fronts, respect for Iran’s sovereignty, and the lifting of the maritime blockade within 30 days.
