The death toll in the back-to-back earthquakes that devastated Venezuela's northern coast on Wednesday has risen to 235, with more than 4,300 others injured.
Axar.az reports that Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado confirmed the updated figures on Thursday.
According to preliminary reports, 157 people are missing, around 200 people remain trapped beneath the rubble, and more than 2,927 families have been affected.
The earthquakes also caused extensive damage to infrastructure, with 250 buildings and eight hospitals sustaining damage.
