Two police officers killed in Iran checkpoint attack

Two police officers were killed and several others injured in an armed attack on a checkpoint in Baneh County, located in Iran's Kurdistan Province.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim News Agency, that armed anti-government assailants attacked the checkpoint on Friday night.

According to the report, the two fatalities were both members of Iran's police force. Among the injured are five police officers, one member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and two civilians.

Preliminary reports indicate that one of the wounded police officers is in critical condition.

Authorities said the circumstances of the attack and the identities of those responsible remain under investigation, adding that further details will be released as they become available.
