Iraq begins process to remove PKK from Sinjar

The “Terror-Free Turkiye” and “Terror-Free Region” processes, which are reshaping the balance of power in the region, continue to advance decisively and successfully.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that according to information obtained from security sources, a historic process has also begun in Iraq following the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria.

The Sinjar region, which was intended to be turned into a stronghold of terrorism, is being cleared of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and placed under the control of the Iraqi central government.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi also commented on the matter.

He said the PKK would hand over its weapons to the state, while Mount Sinjar and all members of the organization there would come under the authority of the administration.
