Japarov: Ablyazov proposed coup in Kazakhstan

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has said that fugitive Kazakh oligarch Mukhtar Ablyazov proposed that he organize a coup in Kazakhstan in 2020.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that Japarov made the remarks in an interview with Super.kg.

According to Japarov, he spoke with Ablyazov by phone in 2020. Ablyazov praised him for the third revolution in Kyrgyzstan and asked for his help, saying he would travel to Bishkek to organize a revolution in Kazakhstan.

“I replied that I do not interfere in the politics of neighboring countries and would not damage relations with Kazakhstan,” Japarov said.

Japarov also denied Ablyazov’s claim that he had asked him for money during the October 2020 events in Kyrgyzstan.

“If he says that, then he is a real fraudster. I never asked him for any money,” he stated.
