Iran’s defence minister: US wants to split Islamic world

The United States is trying to drive a wedge between Islamic countries, because the common security system in the Middle Eastern and Central Asian regions runs counter to its policy interests, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami said at the 7th Moscow International Security Conference on Wednesday.

"The development and prosperity of Muslim countries is a source of concern for some players, particularly the United States. They are well aware of the fact that, if there is unity and cohesion in the Islamic world, the overall security regime will become a powerful system from the point of view of geopolitics," he said.

"They spare no effort to hinder the creation of the Central Asian security system, because they believe that any consolidation in the security sphere runs counter to the interests of retaining the strength of America’s power, standing and dominance in the world," Hatami added.
