U.S. President Donald Trump has described Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as a strong and determined leader and said he looks forward to further developing relations with Kazakhstan.

Axar.az reports, citing Kazakh media, that the remarks were made in a congratulatory letter Trump sent to Tokayev ahead of the 35th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.

“I am grateful for the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between our nations, and I look forward to continuing the great relationship that you and I have built during both of my Presidencies,” Trump said.

He added that millions of Kazakh citizens would proudly celebrate the country’s rich culture, historical heritage and unique beauty, which are being carefully preserved and enhanced.

“The people of Kazakhstan are fortunate to have your strong, decisive leadership, and I am proud to join with them in celebrating this important milestone. May God bless you,” Trump added.
