Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on March 20 was extended by 4.5 hours. This is due to the nature of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Axar.az reports that these words were noted by political scientist Elkhan Sahinoglu.
According to him, the owner of the Kremlin needs China. It is no coincidence that Putin spoke highly of China during the meeting:
Emphasizing that China is developing by leaps and bounds behind many countries, Putin said that this country's unique political course and the unity of the market economy have brought beneficial results. Vladimir Putin paid so much attention to Xi Jinping's visit to Russia, which was postponed several times, that he published an article in the famous Chinese newspaper "Jenmin Jibao" before his Chinese friend's arrival in Moscow. In that article, Putin spoke about the importance of creating a multipolar world and China's important role in this matter. The article states that the leaders of Russia and China have met nearly 40 times in recent years and that relations between the two countries are of strategic importance. In 2022, the volume of trade between the two countries will increase to 185 billion dollars. A target of 200 billion dollars is indicated for 2024. Another goal is to ensure the transition to the use of national currency units instead of dollars in trade exchange. A strategic partnership with Beijing is also important for the Kremlin because Russia is trying to sell a large amount of oil and gas to China, which it cannot sell to European countries due to sanctions."
