Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Selwin Hart, the UN Secretary General's special adviser on climate action and just transition, who is visiting our country to participate in the VI World Intercultural Dialogue Forum.
Axar. az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was reported that preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the negotiation process, and cooperation issues were discussed at the meeting.
Giving detailed information about the negotiation process within the framework of COP29, the minister pointed out that despite the different approaches of different parties, the fact that the importance of reaching a consensus is clear to everyone is a positive indicator.
Special adviser Selwin Hart pointed out that despite the lack of time for Azerbaijan's preparation process and the complexity of the chairmanship priority, it is commendable that the process was organized very well in a short period, as well as the establishment of the "Troika" format to ensure coordination with other chairmanships. It was pointed out that the starting date of COP29 coincides with the period when Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) will be determined for countries, and in this regard, COP29 can be a good opportunity.
