If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not present a post-war settlement plan for the Gaza Strip by June 8, I will resign.
Axar.az reports that Benny Gantz, a member of the Israeli Military Cabinet, said these words at a press conference.
Gantz said that Israel is at a fateful strategic crossroads and called for bold decisions:
"For us to continue fighting side by side, the Military Cabinet should prepare an active action plan that will lead to the implementation of six strategic goals of national importance by June 8."
Gantz listed the conditions as follows: 1. Return of prisoners in Gaza; 2. The destruction of the military and political structure of Hamas, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip and the provision of Israeli control over security in the enclave; 3. Creation of a joint governance structure in the Gaza Strip with the participation of the Palestinians, Arab countries, European and US representatives, without the participation of Hamas and Fatah; 4. Residents of Israel's northern and southern border regions return to their homes by September 1; 5. To help the normalization of Israel's diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries; 6. Expanding the recruitment of all categories of the population, including the ultra-Orthodox, into the ranks of the Israeli army.
"Prime Minister Netanyahu, now I look into your eyes and say: after talking to you many times, the time has come to tell the truth, the moment of decision has come. If you decide to follow the path of the extremists and lead the whole nation to the abyss, we will have to leave your government, we will appeal to the people to create a government that will win the trust of the people and rely on the broad unity of the people. Fix the situation and win," he added.
