Adam Delimkhanov, deputy of the State Duma and deputy head of the government of Chechnya, criticized the draft law authored by the deputy chairman of the Duma, Vladislav Davankov, which allows to ban the wearing of religious clothing in schools.
Axar.az reports that Delimkhanov wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
"Of course, we will not support this bill. Davankova I want to explain the difference between niqab and hijab. Niqab is a female garment that covers the face, while hijab does not cover the face. We ourselves do not like the niqab, but as for the hijab, it is a Muslim woman's religious duty. "If Davankov wants to ban someone from following religious orders, this is in direct contradiction to the Russian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religious belief," he said.
He stressed that this initiative could cause division in the society.
"If Davankov or anyone else does not understand what religious traditional values and customs are, we will explain it clearly to him and others."
