Bad news for tourists: it's banned in Barcelona

In Barcelona, Spain, which is the largest tourist destination in Europe, renting apartments to tourists will be prohibited until 2028.

Axar.az reports that "Guardian" published information about this.

According to information, this step is taken with the aim of controlling the rising housing costs and facilitating settlement for local residents.

Barcelona will cancel the licenses of 10,101 apartments currently approved as short-term rentals by November 2028, the mayor said:

"In the last 10 years, a 68 percent increase in rental prices and a 38 percent increase in the sale price of apartments was recorded. Buying an apartment has become a difficult issue for some residents, especially young people."
