The era of UAV warfare: giant companies collapsed

In the "age of drone warfare," the rapid proliferation of new effective warfare technologies is shaking up the established hierarchy of the global defense industry, long dominated by large contractors.

Axar.az informs that "Financial Times" reported on this.

It has been reported that the development of conventional weapons programs takes years, sometimes decades, and relies on significant budgets as well as large research and testing facilities.

In contrast, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which have seen increased use during the conflict in Ukraine, are cheap, efficient and very quickly produced, leveling the playing field between small players and industrial giants in the global defense industry.

According to Lorenz Meyer, the head of the American company "Auterion", which develops software for Ukrainian drones, the cycle time for the development and implementation of new technologies is quite short.

Mikael Johansson, the CEO of the Swedish concern "Saab", emphasizes that the events in Ukraine showed the importance of time to enter the market and more flexible development:

“Rather than developing the perfect product, which can take years, it's important to create products that can be quickly tested, changed and tested again. Speed is critical."
