The US rejected Lavrov's request - Miller

The United States rejected Sergey Lavrov's request to eliminate the main causes of the Ukrainian crisis.

Axar.az reports that US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller spoke about this while commenting on Lavrov's speech at the UN Security Council.

"What Russia perceives as a threat is democracy operating on its borders. This is simply not a legitimate result," said Miller.

The US official noted that there is no military threat, no one has threatened to invade Russian territory, therefore they rejected Lavrov's views on the threat from the West. Miller stressed that Washington is working with Kyiv to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

It should be noted that Lavrov said during his speech at the UN Security Council that Moscow proposed to eliminate the main causes of the conflict in Ukraine. He stressed that it is important that the political and diplomatic settlement be accompanied by concrete steps to eliminate threats against Russia from the West and Euro-Atlantic direction.
