Russia plans to change its nuclear doctrine following recent events in both its own country and the West.

Axar.az reports that "The Times" has written about this.

According to the British newspaper, the doctrine states that if there is a threat to the existence of the Russian Federation as an independent state, whether from a foreign army with conventional weapons or as a result of a nuclear attack, the use of a nuclear arsenal may be justified.

It is reported that the desire to change the doctrine among Russia's influential figures emerged after Ukraine announced the use of HIMARS missiles to destroy bridges in the Kursk region and the arrival of Britain's Challenger 2 tanks.

"Currently, there are no signs that the Russian Federation is preparing to use its nuclear arsenal, but this does not prevent officials in Moscow from constantly warning their Western counterparts about nuclear war," the publication noted.

It is emphasized that such statements are only aimed at deterring NATO from supporting Ukraine. European countries and NATO do not consider these warnings a serious threat. However, Washington is acting cautiously to avoid escalating the situation.
