At the request of Latvia and Romania, a discussion on "drone incidents" will be held at the highest level of NATO.

Axar.az informs that Latvian President Edgars Rinkevich said this in an interview.

"From a broader point of view, we see that similar incidents of drone intrusion into the territory of NATO member countries such as Poland, Romania and now Latvia have already occurred. There is a new reality in which different types of incidents must be taken into account, and a more coherent overall NATO strategy must be developed to decisively counter these new threats," Rinkevich said.

In his opinion, at the same time, it is necessary to constantly improve Latvia's capabilities, for example, in the fight against various types of potentially subversive elements, including air defense systems.

It should be recalled that earlier on September 7, it was reported that a military drone belonging to Russia flew from Belarus to Latvia, and then crashed in Rezekne. According to the Latvian Ministry of Defense, preliminary data indicated that the facility was not targeting enemy targets in Latvia. Commenting on this situation, the President of Latvia said that currently the Ministry of Defense and the National Armed Forces (MSF) are continuing investigations to find out additional details.
