French President Emmanuel Macron has demonstrated ignorance of history and shown disrespect by stating that the state of Israel was created based on a UN resolution.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This shows ignorance of history and disrespect. The UN recognized the Jewish people's right to a state, but of course, it did not create it. Israel achieved statehood as a result of the War of Independence. The UN did not participate in the 1948 war, but those who survived the Holocaust and the Vichy regime did. Therefore, saying that the UN created the state of Israel is a tragic distortion of history," he said.

It should be noted that Netanyahu refers to the Vichy regime, which was the collaborationist government operating in France during the German occupation in World War II.

Additionally, Macron had called on Netanyahu, reminding him that he should not forget that Israel was created by a UN resolution, and invited him to respect UN decisions.
