A suicide bomber detonated explosives at a checkpoint in western Pakistan on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals and injuring five others, according to officials.

Axar.az reports that, citing TRT World, the attack occurred when the bomber triggered the explosion from the back of a motorbike rickshaw near the town of Mir Ali in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Among the deceased were four police officers, two members of a state paramilitary force, and two civilians, close to the border with Afghanistan.

Of the five injured, three are in critical condition and have been transferred to a local military hospital.

The attack was claimed by a lesser-known militant group known as “Aswad ul-Harb.”
