Czech President Petr Pavel has permitted 60 Czech citizens to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that the statement was made by the President's press secretary, Filip Platos, in an interview with Czech Radio.

It was noted that over 180 Czechs in total have applied to join the Ukrainian army.

It should be noted that Czech citizens faced up to five years in prison if they joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces without permission. However, in March 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala and former President Miloš Zeman agreed not to penalize citizens who went to fight for Kyiv without authorization.
