Scottish parliament backs COP29 peacebuilding efforts

A resolution titled "COP29's Peacebuilding Efforts and COP Ceasefire Initiative" has been introduced in the Scottish Parliament.

Axar.az reports that the resolution, published on the parliament's official website, highlights COP29 as a significant event for promoting peace, international cooperation, and friendship worldwide, including between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The resolution emphasizes how COP29’s climate actions can serve as a bridge for peace and collaboration among nations.

It also expresses support for the "COP " initiative, calling on all parties involved in ongoing global conflicts to halt military operations.

COP29 is described as a pivotal moment for international climate negotiations, urging aattending COP29 to cooperate to meaningfully tackle the climate crisis.

Notably, the resolution has been backed by 25 members of parliament from five political parties: Labour, Conservatives, Greens, Liberal Democrats, and the Scottish National Party.
