Syria conflict escalates as Islamist group advances

After a four-year frozen conflict in Syria, the frontlines have reignited. The Islamist group "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" and allied factions has started advancing toward Aleppo city.

Axar.az informs that according to "Tsargrad" news, sources report that the attack by "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" is massive in nature:

"Radicals have already engaged in battles against the Syrian army. Armored vehicles have been used. The group has already passed several settlements on the road to Aleppo. Clashes have been recorded around Idlib and near the town of Anadan. If they succeed, the militants will open a path to the western edge of the city. This marks the largest escalation since the conflict was frozen four years ago. Meanwhile, the Syrian army is facing significant fuel shortages. Additionally, the terrorists are gaining tactical success. The Syrian army's defense is collapsing due to the sparse distribution of bases and outposts. The jihadists are actively spreading photos and videos of prisoners. Russian special forces' equipment is also visible. In the photos, at least one body appears to be of a Slavic appearance. The terrorists claim the individual is Russian."

The "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" and "Fath al-Mubin" operation groups are said to have attacked Syrian army positions in the west of Aleppo, taking control of several centers. Syrian government forces have shelled the rear positions of the groups in Atarib, Darat Izza, and surrounding villages.

It is also reported that Russian military aircraft have conducted attacks against "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" forces.
