Russian Ursa Major ship sinks in Mediterranean Sea

Russia's "Ursa Major" ship has sunk in international waters between Spain and Algeria in the Mediterranean Sea.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the "Espanyol" publication.

The report states that the Russian "Ursa Major" cargo ship encountered an explosion in the engine room this past Monday, leading to the accident in international waters. Fourteen crew members were rescued and taken to Cartagena port, while two crew members are still missing.

Several ships in the area, along with the Spanish Navy's patrol boat, were involved in the rescue operations.

According to the report, the ship had departed from Saint Petersburg 12 days ago and was expected to arrive in Vladivostok port on January 22.

It is noted that the "Ursa Major" was built in 2009.
