The risk of Pokrovsk city falling under blockade is high, which could lead to Ukraine losing the entire Donetsk region.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by General Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This essentially means that we have handed over Donbas to the Russians,” he remarked while responding to a question about the potential blockade of Pokrovsk.

In his opinion, the Russians currently do not aim to capture Pokrovsk:

“I believe their goal is to maintain a siege around Pokrovsk. This is important for them in terms of resources and possibly minimizing losses. They are maneuvering from the south, bypassing Pokrovsk, and plan to reach the border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. They even intend to enter the Dnipropetrovsk region. This provides them with certain advantages in potential negotiations, if they take place.”

The general added that Pokrovsk would “fall” if logistical support, such as ammunition, food, equipment, and personnel deliveries, were cut off.
