Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya, has officially announced his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled for October 12 this year.

Axar.az reports that Cameroon’s constitution places no age or term limits on presidential candidates, allowing Biya to seek an eighth consecutive term.

It is worth noting that the head of state will turn 92 on February 13. His predecessor, Ahmadou Ahidjo, led the country from 1960 to 1982.

Biya is the world’s oldest head of state and has been in office for over 41 years.

With 10 other candidates already declaring their intention to run, the stage is set for a competitive election as the country prepares for its next chapter of leadership.
