Azerbaijan international and former Columbus Crew forward Nariman Akhundzade will continue his career in Turkiye after joining newly promoted Super Lig side Erzurumspor.

Axar.az informs that the Turkish club announced the signing on its official website.

The 22-year-old joined Columbus Crew from Qarabag in February this year.

Erzurumspor won last season's Turkish First League title, securing promotion to the Super Lig for the first time in five years.

According to the report, Akhundzade's move from the MLS club was his own decision. The forward, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Columbus Crew after arriving from Qarabag this spring, informed the club's management that he wanted to leave.

He reportedly told the coaching staff that he was not receiving enough playing time and had grown frustrated with remaining on the bench.

The striker requested permission to change clubs, and Columbus Crew agreed to his request.
