A Turkish-owned vessel, the Nadezhda, was hit by a Ukrainian drone in the Black Sea while sailing from Turkiye’s Samsun Port to Russia’s Novorossiysk Port.

Axar.az reports that the vessel belongs to Turkiye-based Kalyoncu Shipping and has Turkish crew members on board.

The ship was struck at around 19:30 Baku time.

The ship is sailing under the flag of Cameroon and was carrying trucks loaded with fruits and vegetables.

According to the report, no crew members were injured or reported missing following the attack. A Russian patrol boat was the first to arrive at the scene.

The ship's captain said Ukraine used six to seven drones in the attack. The strike caused a fire to break out on board the vessel, and four people were injured.

There were 22 crew members on board the Nadezhda vessel, including 13 Turkish citizens, and the sailors were safely evacuated to the port of Novorossiysk by the Russian Navy.

The information was released by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs under Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
