Turkiye unlikely to mediate in Ukraine conflict

Turkiye is unlikely to act as a mediator in the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Ankara's arms supplies to Kyiv and defense industry projects have undermined trust.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Turkish political scientist Igid Saner.

"I don't think Turkiye can still act as a mediator in negotiations; the signals coming from Moscow are not positive. Turkiye still has good relations with Russia, but the supply of arms to Ukraine and joint defense industry initiatives have undermined mutual trust," he said.

According to him, this does not reduce Turkiye's value for Russia as a NATO member, however, considering the events in Syria, we can see that the interests of both countries' administrations are as different as they are aligned.
