The U.S. Postal Service has temporarily halted accepting packages from China and Hong Kong following President Trump’s order, ending duty-free handling of parcels under $800.

Axar.az reports that this change, part of broader trade curbs, imposes a 10% tariff and stricter customs checks on previously exempt shipments.

The rule targets concerns over fentanyl trafficking and aims to curb low-cost imports, affecting e-commerce giants like Shein, Temu, and Amazon. FedEx and UPS are also impacted. The sudden rollout has strained customs resources, potentially causing supply chain delays. The move may complicate imports from China, especially clothing linked to Xinjiang due to forced labor laws.
