Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova commented on the statements of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the "Armenian genocide".

Axar.az reports that she answered a question addressed to her on this topic during a briefing.

"I did not expect that this issue would be approached differently from the historically formed consensus position of both the Armenian state, the Armenian people, and Armenians as an ethnic group.

I did not think that this strong position, which has been formed over the years, would undergo any changes within Armenian society itself. For example, the latest opinions. I am talking about the statements in Davos. But I repeat, this question should not be addressed to us. Our position is reflected in the relevant statement of the State Duma. Our position on this issue has not changed," Zakharova noted.
