On Satrurday protests against far-right extremism were held in Germany.
Axar.az reports that following a rally in Berlin last week with 160,000 participants against the far-right and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, more than 200,000 protesters rallied in Munich against far-right extremism ahead of the country’s general election.
The far-right, anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany, or AfD, is in second place in recent polls and has prompted widespread protests across the country before voters cast their ballots on Feb. 23.
The rally featured slogans supporting diversity, human dignity, solidarity, and democracy, while also protesting radical right-wing movements.
Similar protests attracted large crowds on Saturday in Hanover, Rostock, and elsewhere in Germany.
It is noteworthy that a proposal by the CDU to tighten migration policies, which was passed in a Bundestag vote on January 29 with the support of the AfD.
