Turkiye rejects Cyprus-Egypt hydrocarbon deal

Turkiye does not accept the agreement reached between Southern Cyprus and Egypt on hydrocarbon trade and considers this agreement to be another step aimed at violating the interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.

It was noted that the Greek Cypriots continued their attempts to change the status quo in the region to violate the rights of Nicosia:

“The agreement reached between Southern Cyprus and Egypt is a threat to regional stability and efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem. All documents signed without the participation of Northern Cyprus are illegal. Turkiye, as one of the guarantor countries for Cyprus, is ready to take measures against any steps that would threaten peace and stability on the island.”
