A religious-ethnic provocation is being prepared in Syria.
Axar.az reports that Omer Chelik, spokesman for Turkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said these words while commenting on the recent clashes in Syria.
Chelik stated that Turkiye defends Syria's territorial integrity and national unity to the end:
When we say "Syria belongs to the Syrians", we mean the emergence of a structure that encompasses all groups and ensures their security. The expressions of Nusayri, Sunni, Alawite, Druze, Turkmen, Arab, Kurdish terrorists are wrong".
Reacting to those seeking asylum and protection from Israel, Chelik noted that all of this is a clear provocation:
"We are closely following them. All of these are calls for international intervention. Those who carry out this terrorism are trying to ensure that Israel intervenes here".
It should be noted that on March 6, Assad supporters attacked Syrian security forces in the province of Latakia. Syria has since deployed troops and imposed a curfew in the coastal area. Syrian government forces have now regained control of villages and the Jabla that were seized by pro-Assad forces.
Syria's interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has called on the other side to lay down their arms.
