Armenia has agreed to a provision on the non-deployment of third-country forces on the common border after the peace agreement enters into force.

Axar.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made these remarks on March 13 in a conversation with journalists at the Civil Contract Party office, commenting on the fact that Armenia agreed to completely withdraw observers not only from the demarcated areas, but from the entire border in fact, if an agreement is signed.

He answered the question about why he changed his previously stated position as follows:

“We have not changed our previously stated position; we have changed our perception by analyzing the text. We discussed the Security Council and concluded that the process of exchanging these texts has already exhausted itself, and we have analyzed the text of the peace agreement as a whole and moved on to the next stage. As a result of this analysis, we concluded that this compromise text, which was formed as a result of four years of negotiations, may be acceptable to Armenia.”
