Japan's Self-Defense Force fighters have taken off to escort a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft.
Axar.az reports that Japan's Joint Chiefs of Staff released a statement on this.
According to the information, the Il-20 aircraft flew over the Sea of Japan along the western coasts of Hokkaido and Honshu islands the previous day and then turned towards the mainland.
In response, fighters from Japan's Northern Air Defense Force were scrambled.
