Japan's Self-Defense Force fighters have taken off to escort a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft.

Axar.az reports that Japan's Joint Chiefs of Staff released a statement on this.

According to the information, the Il-20 aircraft flew over the Sea of ​​Japan along the western coasts of Hokkaido and Honshu islands the previous day and then turned towards the mainland.

In response, fighters from Japan's Northern Air Defense Force were scrambled.
