2006 World Cup winner Gennaro Gattuso has been appointed head coach of the Italian national football team.

Axar.az reports that the national team's press service announced this.

He replaces Luciano Spalletti, who has been in charge since 2023.

"Gattuso is a symbol of Italian football. His motivation, professionalism, and experience will be the basis for the national team to best cope with the tasks ahead. I thank him for accepting this challenge, realizing the importance of the goal we want to achieve," said Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation.
