Turkiye to Launch Turksat 6A

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the ceremony of commissioning the new "Turksat 6A" communication satellite on April 21.

Axar.az reports that the device's launch into orbit will increase the coverage of Turkish satellites from 3.5 billion to 5 billion people worldwide.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic, Abdulgadir Uraloghlu, noted that the design service life of "Turksat 6A" is at least 15 years. He emphasized that this success is the culmination of the work that began with the launch of "Turksat 1B" in 1994, followed by "Turksat 1C" (1996) and "Türksat 2A" (2001).

The launch of the "Turksat 6A" satellite will strengthen Turkiye's place among the 11 elite countries that have the technology to produce communication satellites, with 84 of its 100 components being domestically produced, i.e., Turkish.

The satellite's commissioning ceremony will take place at the Turksat Golbasi facility in Ankara. With the launch of the device, Turkiye will be able to expand its communication services to countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
