European gas prices top $700 for first time since March

The price of natural gas in Europe climbed above $700 per 1,000 cubic meters during trading on Monday for the first time since March 23.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that according to data from the London ICE Exchange, the increase came amid another escalation between the United States and Iran in the Middle East.

The price of the August futures contract at the TTF hub in the Netherlands rose to around $716 per 1,000 cubic meters, or €60.515 per MWh (ICE quotes are denominated in euros per MWh).
