The UN Human Rights Office reported that around 800 people have been killed in Gaza while trying to access food aid since the end of May 2025.
Axar.az reports that of these, 615 people died near distribution sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which the U.S. and Israel support. Another 183 were killed along aid convoy routes managed by the UN or other relief agencies, according to Euro News.
The UN warns that the chaotic and dangerous food distribution lines could constitute crimes against humanity, with a high risk of continued violence. In just over a month, more than 640 people have been killed and 4,500 injured, many from gunfire near aid centers.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, facing severe shortages of fuel, medicine, and medical equipment, leaving hospitals unable to cope with the mass casualties.
The GHF has denied responsibility, claiming the deaths occurred during UN-led aid convoys. However, both local and international sources affirm that even after easing the blockade, food distribution in Gaza remains deadly for civilians.
In response, the Israeli military issued a statement saying it had “learned lessons” and updated field protocols after reviewing reports of civilian harm near aid sites.
