Tukish warplanes have destroyed one of PKK's 'headquarters' located in Zap region of Northern Iraq on Sunday after a deadly terror attack claimed by a PKK offshoot group killed 39 people in Istanbul. reports that, Turkish carried out an aerial operation against the area between 08:50-09:40 p.m. local time. The jets took off after receiving an intelligence report about the location of terrorist targets, the statement released by the Turkish military said.

"12 PKK terrorist targets were shot 24 times in the area, all of them being destroyed completely," the statement said.

The warplanes returned to their bases in safety, it added.

The operation was a clear retaliation to Saturday's PKK attack in Istanbul, which left 39 dead and 155 wounded.

The militant group is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, US, EU and many other countries in the world.
