US-Iran talks in Doha 'going well' after indirect meetings

U.S. President Donald Trump said indirect talks between U.S. and Iranian officials in Doha, Qatar, had made progress, describing Wednesday's discussions as "very good meetings."

Axar.az reports, citing CBS, that the negotiations, mediated by Pakistani and Qatari officials, did not involve direct contact between the U.S. and Iranian delegations but were aimed at easing tensions following recent hostilities.

"As far as things are going, the denuclearization of Iran is moving along well. They've had very good meetings, and we'll see," Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews.

Trump said the United States had previously "hit them very hard" but added, "we're getting along very well."

Before departing for North Dakota aboard the new Air Force One gifted by Qatar, Trump also said Iran had "come a long way."

"I think they're fine," he said.
